Karen Ann Griffin, 79, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021.

Graveside services will be held at Crestview Memorial Park in October. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

A daughter of the late Ruth (Stull) and Otho O'Brien, Karen was born on January 13, 1942, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Linton High School in Indiana in 1960. Following her graduation, Karen joined the United States Air Force where she proudly served her country for two years. While in the Air Force she met her future husband, Rayburn Griffin, who was also in the armed services. They were married in 1964 and were blessed with their first daughter Rae Ann in May of 1965. In 1971, Karen and Rayburn completed their family with another daughter, Kelly Sue. In 1972, the family moved to England where Rayburn was stationed. They returned to Wichita Falls in 1977 to serve at Sheppard Air Force, where Rayburn retired in 1985.

Karen worked in accounting for most of her career, until training to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse in 1995. At that time she went to work for the American Red Cross as a phlebotomist. Her dream of becoming a nurse was finally fulfilled with this position! Karen retired from the Red Cross in 2003.

She was a wonderful mother to her daughters and supported their endeavors from school activities such as Boomtown Babes to seeing them fulfill life goals-one becoming a flight attendant and the other a registered nurse. Following Rayburn's death, Karen moved to Royal Estates where she enjoyed all of the residents and the various activities. She loved her time there!  Karen will be missed terribly by all those who loved her.

Along with her parents, Karen was also preceded in death by her husband, Rayburn in 1996; and her only brother, Richard O'Brien.

She is survived by her two daughters, Rae Ann Griffin and her companion, Gus Arakelian; and Kelly Sue Miller; Karen's companion from Royal Estates, Richard Esch; and her little dog, Tiny.
