Katherine Adelia Schkade, 77, of Wichita Falls, passed through death to heavenly glory on September 22, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 26, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wichita Falls. Visitation will be Monday evening, September 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. The burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. near Albany, Texas.

The eldest daughter of Walter and Hilda Grueber, Kathy was born October 6, 1945, in Saginaw, Michigan, baptized October 21, 1945, and confirmed in the Christian faith March 22, 1959. She graduated from Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, Illinois, and received a M.Ed. from Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska.

On June 28, 1969, Kathy married charming Texas native Kenneth Schkade—despite realizing he wasn't an oil tycoon!—and the couple was blessed with two sons. They enjoyed life in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, with Kathy working as a homemaker, a teacher in Christian day schools, and a church organist, bell choir director, and leader of midweek Bible school. She was known for her love of children and music, her faith in Jesus, and her kind-spirited sarcasm.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Hilda. She is survived by her husband, Ken; her sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Becky and Jonathan and Kristi; her grandchildren, Daniel, Ellie, Jamie, Molly, and Andrew, and her sister, Irene. She treasured so many other friends and relatives, both living and dead, who reflected God's love to her.
