Kristina JoRene Whyrick, a devoted mother, Nana, teacher, artist and musician, passed away on January 28, 2025, at her home in Wichita Falls, Texas.

A memorial to celebrate Kristina's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8th at Lunn's Chapel with Kermit Tandberg officiating. The family will receive friends at a visitation following the service.

Born on September 21, 1955, in Hastings, Nebraska, Kristina lived a life marked by unwavering faith, a deep love for her family, and a passion for nurturing others. A lifelong Christian, Kristina's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She faced challenges with a steadfast belief in God's plan, and her boundless faith served as an inspiration to all who knew her. Kristina was fiercely devoted to her children and grandchildren and sweet dog Matilda, loving them with a strength that will never be forgotten.

Kristina graduated with a Bachelor's in Art and a minor in Spanish from Midwestern State University. She was extremely proud to become a teacher, and she served the WFISD for many years. As a retired teacher, Kristina touched countless students' lives, imparting wisdom, kindness and a love for learning. Her passion for education was unmatched only by her love for art and music. She expressed her creativity through her beautiful work. Kristina's artistic talents were not only a personal expression, but also a way she shared joy with others.

She will be remembered for her boundless compassion, eagerness to share Jesus with others, goofy spirit, joyful singing and ability to make everyone around her feel valued and loved. Kristina's legacy will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and all who were blessed to know her.

Kristina was preceded in death by her father, Derryl Whyrick, mother, Audrey JoRene Rutledge, and brother, Arlyn Whyrick.

She is survived by her children: Britt Whyrick and spouse, Janna Whyrick of Uvalde, and their three children, Genevieve, Audrianne, and Emmaline,; Layce McCurley and spouse, Ryan McCurley and their three children, Whitton, Adilai and Halle; Landon Mack and his three children Braycen, Haygen and John Michael, and daughter-in-law, Angela Perry.
