Laverne Gray Palmer, age 100, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

A small graveside service will be held in Marlow, Oklahoma, with her two sons officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.

Laverne was born on December 24, 1925, to Elmer and Hettie Gray in Marlow, Oklahoma. She graduated from Marlow High School in 1943, and married Bill Palmer in 1945 in Oklahoma City. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 2007. Laverne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill, in August 2007; two brothers, Floyd Gray and Cleston "Buddy" Gray; one sister, Deola Gray; and one granddaughter, Bethany Jo Palmer Loftis.

Laverne had been a member of First Baptist Church since 1971. She was very active in the Hannah Sunday School class. She enjoyed serving as a volunteer at the Wichita Falls General Hospital for many years. She was the recipient of the 2,000 hours service award for her faithful volunteer service. Laverne loved taking part in her family activities, entertaining friends for many years and traveling. She also enjoyed participating in making crafts with friends throughout the years.

She is survived her two sons, Bob Palmer and his wife, Margaret, of Moore, South Carolina; and Ken Palmer and his wife, Linda, of Stafford, Texas. Laverne is also survived by her four grandchildren: Kelly Crandall (Steven) of Charlotte, North Carolina; Bobby Palmer of Montgomery, Alabama; Jonathan Palmer of San Antonio, Texas; and Lindsey Skinner (Mike) of Stafford, Texas; Laverne has one great-granddaughter, Nora Skinner, of Stafford, Texas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at Presbyterian Maono at 4600 Taft Blvd, Wichita Falls, TX 76308.
