Loyd Nolan Nicholas, 82, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021.

Graveside services will be held with Pastor Terri Whitgrove officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

A son of the late Mary (Holden) and Tomie Nicholas, Loyd was born on September 11, 1939, in Chillicothe, Texas. He attended schools in Medicine Mound and Quanah, Texas. Following graduation, Loyd attended West Texas State, Amarillo Junior College and graduated from Midwestern University. He and Sarah Jane Streit were married July 3, 1965, in Quanah.

Loyd worked for the City of Wichita Falls and the Texas Department of Health and Human Services Long Term Care for 30 years. He enjoyed all sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of the Running Club and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Loyd was a nature lover who took care of strays and fed all of the birds.

Along with his parents, Loyd was also preceded in death by a son, Craig N. Nicholas; and a sister, Carol Trout.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sarah Nicholas; daughter, Laura Peterson and husband, Tracy; grandchildren, Katharine Cowan and husband, Todd; Marilyn Nicholas, Bodie Peterson and Gunnar Peterson; and great-grandchildren, Millie Cowan and Bennett Nicholas; and brothers, Tony Nicholas and Sammy Nicholas.
