Mable Alice Handel, 90, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away peacefully at Senior Care and Rehabilitation on November 28, 2024.

A daughter of Alice (Peterson) and Maurice Swenson, Mable was born on August 16, 1934, in Nicollet County, Minnesota. She and her five siblings grew up on the Swenson family farm which to this day has the oldest continuous registered Holsteins in the nation.  She attended the Christian Day School in Norseland, Minnesota, and graduated from Bethany Lutheran High School, in Mankato, Minnesota, in 1952. She married her high school sweetheart, Harold Handel, on June 18, 1955. They were married for 62 years until his passing in 2017.  She was a stay-at- home mom until her youngest child started school. Then she had a variety of secretarial jobs over the years.  She and Harold lived in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, until 1988, when they moved to a lake home on South Island Lake in Nevis, Minnesota. They resided there in the summers and would join their snowbird friends in Sierra Vista, Arizona, for the winters. In 2011, they moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona, permanently.  After Harold passed, in 2017, she moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, to be closer to her daughter. She enjoyed living independently until January 2021, when she moved into Assisted Living at Brookdale Sikes Lake. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Being around her family, listening to music, coffee, and hot fudge sundaes were some of her favorite things.

Mable was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Alice Swenson; her husband, Harold; her son, Craig; and her granddaughter, Ashlie Erin Hill. She was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Paul; her brothers, Howard, Owen, and Douglas; and her sister, Shirley.

She is survived by her son, Mike (Lisa) Handel of Plymouth, MN; daughter, Carmen (David) Hill of Wichita Falls, TX; son, Scott (Lynn) Handel of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren, Lee Handel, Brett Handel, Carter Handel, Kyle (Tasha) Hill, Kory (Erose) Hill, Katie (Seth) Blackwood, and Oliver Handel; great grandchildren, Kiley Hill, Haiden Hill, Adler Hill, David Hill, and Matthias Hill. She is also survived by her sister, Karen Radway, of Lincoln, NE.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Norseland, Minnesota, in the Spring.
