Marion Nelson Taylor, age, 92 passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8th at Lunn's. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9th at Lunn's Chapel with Associate Pastor Randy Osborn officiating.  Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of  Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

A son of John Nelson and Nellie Stratton Taylor, Marion was born on August 13, 1932, in Pottsboro, Texas.  He graduated from Denison High School in 1949 and Southeastern State University, Durant, Oklahoma, with a degree in Business Education.  He continued his education at Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, Texas, receiving a Master's Degree in Education in 1956.  He served in the U. S. Army, 516th Signal Division, 1953-54 at Camp Roeder, Salzburg, Austria.

Marion married Elfrieda S. Isernhagen on December 27, 1954, in Vernon, Texas.  They established a home in Davidson, Oklahoma, where they were both teaching and then moved to Wichita Falls August, 1955.

Marion's forty-one year career with the Wichita Falls ISD began with teaching at Sam Houston Elementary and then included serving as principal for Fannin/Travis and Ben Franklin Elementary, Barwise Junior High, Hirschi High School and retiring as Principal of Rider High School in 1993.  He continued working part time for the Wichita Falls ISD Personnel Department until 1996.  During these years, he dedicated himself to being an encourager to both students and teachers to always do their best.

Mr. Taylor was on the Board of Wichita Falls Teachers Federal Credit Union for 14 years and served as President of the WF Retired Teachers Association.  He was active in community service organizations, being a member of the Senior Zone, Family YMCA, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Interfaith Ministries, and the AARP Income Tax Assistance program.

As a member of Westside Baptist Church for 47 years, he was actively involved serving as Sunday school teacher and Deacon.  In 2003 he and his wife joined Faith Baptist Church where he served as Director and teacher of the 6A Adult department along with involvement in other ministries of the church.

In 2015, he became a member of First Baptist Church and later married Marlus Houska in 2017. They enjoyed travel, church, and fellowship with friends.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents, Elfrieda, his wife of 60 years, two infant sons, John Nelson and Marion Nelson II and brother-in-law, Merle.

He is survived by his wife, Marlus Taylor; son, John Mark Taylor with whom he held a special bond and wife Lisa; brother, George Taylor of Wichita Falls; nieces and nephews Jeff and Suzanne Taylor of Wichita Falls; Keith Taylor of Arlington; Jan and Gary Motley of Bethany, OK; Gail and Keith Thompson of Midwest City, OK; Rick and Michelle Isernhagen of Lexington, KY; and Brad and Kathy Isernhagen of Edmund, OK; numerous cousins, great-nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Vernell Houska.
