Mary Evelyn Broadway, 93, of Wichita Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday,

September 6, 2023.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, September 15, 2023, at the First Baptist Church Main Worship Center with Dr. Bob McCartney officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Private interment will be at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Mary Evelyn was born September 14, 1929, in Wichita Falls to the late Ronald Jack Williams and Pearl Isham Williams. Mary Evelyn met the love of her life, Jerry Broadway, at Zundy Junior High School while she was the hall monitor and Jerry was walking on the wrong side of the hall. She graduated at the age of 16 from Wichita Falls High School as co-valedictorian. Mary Evelyn attended college at Texas State College for Women in Denton. She received numerous honors and held many executive positions in multiple organizations during her college years. Her family discovered she was a very talented artist after coming across her art portfolio during a recent move.Being a modest and humble woman, Mary Evelyn never discussed any of her accomplishments.

After graduation, Mary Evelyn and Jerry married on December 26, 1950, in Wichita Falls then moved to Dallas so Jerry could attend Baylor Dental School. Mary Evelyn began teaching for the Dallas School District until Jerry's graduation from dental school. Mary Evelyn and Jerry eventually moved back to Wichita Falls where Jerry began his dental practice. She supported Jerry's dental practice in many capacities in the office. She served as his bookkeeper.and was an active member of the Dental Auxiliary.

Mary Evelyn was a faithful member of First Baptist Church serving on many committees as well as teaching preschool Sunday School until she became physically unable. Her life was a living example of a Proverbs 31 woman. Mary Evleyn was a faithful servant to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her family and her friends.

Mary Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry, her parents and her brother Ronald Jack Williams, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Vicki Henslee and husband David of Wichita Falls, daughter Marcia Carson and husband Ted of College Station, son Chris Broadway and wife Cathy of Colleyville, niece Kathy Trevino and husband Tony of San Antonio, nephew Ron Williams and wife Monica of San Antonio, and niece, Susan Cunningham and husband Gary of Plano. Mary Evelyn was blessed with 7 grandchildren: Meredith Latimer and husband Brannon, Allyson Ward and husband Mike, Brian Henslee and wife Margaret, Kristin Garcia and husband Richard, Caroline Bales and husband Joseph, Kyle Broadway, and Elizabeth Conley and husband Josh. She was also blessed by 18 great grandchildren.

The family would like to say a special thanks to all the caregivers that attended to Mary Evelyn, including Visiting Angels, The Gables at Rolling Meadows and Hospice of Wichita Falls.
