Mary Loretta Moudy Rarick passed from this world to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 3, 2024, in Shreveport, Louisianna, where she lived for the past couple of years. Her husband of nearly 62 years, Walt Rarick, was by her side when she passed. Her children and several grandchildren watched over her faithfully during her last days.

Mary was born August 24, 1943, in Stella, Arkansas to John Paul Moudy and Zilla Lee Walker Moudy both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Connes Moudy, Junetta Phillips, Paula Morris, Linda Fields, and Robert Moudy, and her grandsons Elijah Guinn and Benjamin Guinn.

Mary is survived by her husband Walt Rarick of Shreveport, Louisiana; her children: Richard Rarick (spouse Mary K.) of Burkburnett, Texas, Debbie Rarick of Waco, Texas, Brenda Kimball (spouse Gregory Paul) of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Connie Guinn of Wichita Falls, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, John Paul Moudy, Jr., of Kansas City, Missouri.

Additionally, she is survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Heather Cremeens (spouse Cameron) and their children Campbell and Cooper of Wichita Falls, Texas; Ashley Perez (spouse Tim) and their children Ayla, Olicia, and Greyson of Elgin, Oklahoma; Amanda Foley (spouse Stephen) of Bristol, Connecticut; Matthew Kimball of Shreveport, Louisiana; Molly Bailey (spouse Chris) of Dover, Florida; Elliot Guinn of Wichita Falls, Texas; Cierra Haynes (spouse Chad) and their children Leighton, Lennon, and Lawson of Iowa Park, Texas; Savanna Pickrell (spouse Justin) and their children Lyla and Lia of Lubbock, Texas; and Collin Braziel of Wichita Falls, Texas.

Growing up, Mary and her family eventually moved from Arkansas, to Miami, Oklahoma, where she remained with her mom and siblings throughout her high school years. She graduated from Miami High School in 1961.

Mary joined the United States Navy and served as a Dental Technician at Quonset Point, Rhode Island, where she met and married the love of her life, Lance Corporal Walter Rarick, a marine also stationed at Quonset Point. They met when she was assigned as the tech for Walt when he arrived for a dental appointment he had scheduled.  They married on October 13, 1962, in Dexter, New York.

After the Navy, Mary worked as a nurse's aide and, together with her husband, she raised four children and cared for several foster children for many years. During this time, Mary settled her family in various locations- New York, California, Texas, Michigan, and Spain- during Walt's military career.

Mary was generous and sacrificial- even leaving behind her dream of completing nursing school to move to Spain when Walt received orders to Torrejon Air Force Base near Madrid.

Mary and Walt lived in Wichita Falls, Texas, from 1979 until 2022 when they left to live in Shreveport with the Kimball's.

Mary was a devoted wife and mother who worked hard to provide for her family and willingly took various jobs such as laundry worker, seamstress of military insignias, child carer, and cook and cashier at military dining halls where she was a union representative, in order to help provide for her family.

Throughout this time, it was not uncommon for her to be seen in the bleachers, cheering on her children's and grandchildren's ball games, often serving as team mom.

Researching genealogy was an avid interest and hobby Mary shared with some of her siblings and extended family members. She loved watching game shows and also trying her hand at the casino. Mary was an excellent seamstress and was prolific at crocheting, and she enjoyed various other crafts.

Mary was an amazing chef and baker. She invested many hours helping raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren, cooking for her family and hosting family gatherings. Mary passed her amazing cooking skills on to her daughters and to future generations.

Mary generously loved her family and her friends, and she prayed for them diligently.

For the last couple of decades, Mary battled faltering health. She faced and overcame many medical challenges by her incredible strength and tenacity. The family would like to thank Sheridan Medical Lodge in Burkburnett, Texas, Healing Hands Healthcare in Wichita Falls, Texas, along with Devine Healthcare and Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, for their compassionate care for Mary.

Mary had a strong faith in Christ, and this faith remained strong unto the end.  For many years, she and Walt attended Beverly Hills Baptist Church, in Waco, Texas, via Zoom, and even hosted some of the services from inside their home.

Some of Mary's last spoken words were, "I love you" and "I thank you all" and "I will see you in glory with all the saints, in Jesus' name. Amen".
Mary's faith in Christ was strong, simple, and sincere, and it had an eternal influence and impact on her family, which was strongly felt and is already missed.

There will be a viewing and opportunity to pay respect for Mary on Monday evening, May 13, 2024, from 6:00 – 7:00 pm, at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home, 2812 Midwestern Parkway, Wichita Falls, Texas, 76308.

A service to honor and celebrate Mary's life will be held on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024, at 10:00 am at Colonial Church, 4300 Maplewood Ave, Wichita Falls, Texas, 76308, with Reverend Dr. Debbie Rarick officiating.

A graveside ceremony with military honors and gratitude for her service in the United States Navy will be held the same day at 2:00 p.m. at Ft. Sill National Cemetery, 2648 NE Jake Dunn Rd, Elgin, Oklahoma, 73538.
