Mary Martha Logan Swanson, 98, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022 surrounded by her family. Mary was born April 24, 1924, to Ruth Griffith Logan and Dr. Clifford Kuykendal Logan in Hominy, Oklahoma.

Memorial services will be at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27 ^th at Lunn's Colonial Chapel with Roger Deerinwater officiating. The family will receive friends at a visitation following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Mary was the middle of three siblings. She lived an enchanted childhood with her older sister, Ruth, and younger brother, Cliff, as the children of a country doctor in Hominy. She often told happy memories of her father taking her on house calls in the middle of the night. Dr. Logan was a beloved physician and would barter for his services in the days of the Great Depression, taking food or whatever his patients could afford rather than charging them for their care. Granny was so proud of her parents and heritage. Granny always remembered her mother as an elegant woman of high character and grace.

She graduated from Hominy High School in 1932 and went on to study education at the University of Oklahoma where she met her future husband, Wilson Ford Pruitt. They married in 1945 and had three children together, Sarah Frances, Wilson Ford, and Logan Boyd. In 1954 Mary married Emery Weston "Swede" Swanson, who joined her in raising her three children and the daughter they had together, Mary Grace.

After raising her children, Mary began a career and eventually retired as personnel officer of the Wichita Falls State Hospital, where Emery was also a chief engineer, and the couple lived for many years. They retired together in 1987 to become full-time grandparents and champions for their family.

Granny had many interests and talents, but her main passion was always her family. She will always be remembered for her unconditional love, her joy, her hugs and kisses, her pride in her children and grandchildren, and her blue eye shadow. Without a doubt Granny was always a loyal and present for her family.

In her final years Mary lived and thrived at the Presbyterian Manor of Wichita Falls. She loved making new friends and playing bridge.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Ruth and Cliff, and her husband Emery Weston Swanson.

Mary leaves behind her children Sarah Schmid of Wichita Falls, Ford Swanson and wife Becky of Wichita Falls, Logan Swanson and wife Diana of Jasper, Arkansas, and Mary Grace McAlister and husband Hardy of Wichita Falls, grandchildren Loretta, Ashley, Megan, Ford, Kathleen, Logan, Cliff, Mark, and Sarah, their spouses and twenty-three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear cousins, Fran Board, Evelyn Ebbs, Jan Pickard, and Kate Brennan and numerous nieces and nephews.
