Millard "M.C." Porter, 96, passed away June 16, 2022, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2022, in Lunn's Colonial Chapel with Rev. Don Stribling officiating. Entombment with military honors will follow in the Crestview Memorial Park Garden Mausoleum, under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

M.C. was born July 15, 1925, to Millard Sr. and Annie (Harrison) Porter in Lamar County, Texas. M.C. served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict. After moving to the area in 1942, he met and married Catherine Ruth Fox on February 7, 1947 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

M.C. worked for 54 years as a funeral director. He was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church for many years and served as an elder and a deacon. M.C. was passionate about community service. He was a past president and long time member of the University Kiwanis Club. He was a longtime member of the Red River Orchid Society, along with his wife Catherine. He was a member and former president of Toastmasters. He also delivered for Meals on Wheels for many years. Upon his retirement, he worked for the Wichita Falls Independent School District as a crossing guard for several different elementary schools.

M.C. was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 70 years, Catherine Porter. He is survived by his two sons, Rev. Paul E. Porter and wife Suzanne of Rusk, Texas; and Terry L. Porter and wife Brenda of Wichita Falls, Texas; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and eleven nieces and nephews.

M.C. exemplified grace and mastery of service. He set an example for us to strive for altruism without hesitation or a moment's pause.
