Nancy LaBelle Payne Robinson, 85, of Wichita Falls, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 19, 2023.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 30th at Lunn's Colonial Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1st at Lunn's Chapel with Bill Lockwood officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

A daughter of the late Juanita (Brakebill) and C.O. Payne, Nancy was born on August 8, 1938, in Wichita Falls. Nancy's twin brothers introduced her to her husband, Jimmy. On March 26, 1956, the couple were sitting in a living room after attending a funeral. Jimmy looked over at Nancy and said, "Let's not waste being dressed up," so they went over to Lawton, Oklahoma, and tied the knot. She was the love of his life. They worked side by side, doing everything together: raising a family, farming, and juggling careers. Nancy supported her husband as he served in various church leadership roles and as a coach. She was the nurturer, always ready with food, a place to stay, an open door to stop and chat a while- it didn't matter who you were: family, friends, church family, or strangers.

When she didn't have a book in her hands, Nancy was working fabric through a sewing machine, crocheting through yarn, embroidering skeins of thread, or cuddling the nearest baby. She made bears for the neonatal unit at the hospital, and she met at the church weekly to work on local sewing projects benefiting those in need. In recent years, she and Jimmy delivered Meals on Wheels "to the old people". Her hands were always busy and countless numbers have been blessed by them.

She was Class of 1957, from Wichita Falls High School. She volunteered a good number of years at Faith City Mission, and later worked as a school aide at Iowa Park and Kirby Junior High before retiring in 1994. From then she focused much of her time on her grandchildren. She traveled to games and events, and to Houston and Pennsylvania to visit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nancy and Jimmy often met her sister, Thelma and brother-in-law, Tommy, at car shows and cruises. They had Lake Nocona visits with her brother, Clarence, and sister-in-law, Ruth, and road-trips with her sister, Patsy and brother-in-law, Charlie. For their 50th wedding anniversary they cruised to Alaska with her other brother, Lawrence, and sister-in-law, Barbara Jo. She and Jimmy made several trips to New Mexico and California to visit other Robinson families. Of all the things Nancy valued, her family meant the most to her and she would travel far and wide to spend as much time with them as she could.

Along with her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Payne; her brother, Clarence Payne and his wife, Ruth; her sister, Patsy Payne Rogers and her husband, Charlie; her brother-in-law, Tommy Jackson; her brother-in-law, Bobby Robinson; her son, Ricky Robinson; and her son-in-law, David Hestand.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jimmy Robinson; sister, Thelma Jackson; sister-in-law, Barbara Robinson; sister-in-law, Louise Robinson; sister-in-law, Barbara Jo Payne; daughter-in-law, Shirley Robinson; son, Dorsey Robinson and daughter-in-law, Sandi; son, Larry Robinson; daughter, Mary Hestand; grandchildren and spouses: Scott and Amy Robinson, Greg Robinson, Miranda and Keith Brannon, Jessica Robinson, Samantha and Jeremy Alaniz, Klase and Laura Robinson, William Robinson, Allison and Tony Vergara, James and Kristen Goodner, Justin and Sunni Goodner, Vanessa and Shaun Ramirez, Sam and Candice Hestand, Jennifer and David Garcia, Jessica and Tony Martinez, Katie and Rafael Merino, and Jacob (Bob) Hestand; great-grandchildren: Elijah and Liam Batchelor; Evelynn, Caelan, McKenna, and Paxton Brannon; Breanna, Kira, Jeshua, Lakota, and Dayva Alaniz; Zachary, Allison, Nathaniel, and Caleb Robinson; Diana, Anthony, Wyatt, and Lincoln Vergara; Bennett and Isla Goodner; Oliver Goodner; Ashlyn, Lillian, and Shaun, Jr. Ramirez; Reese Hestand; Jordan and Preston Gonzales, Andrea and Sebastian Garcia; Julian and Sophia Martinez; Olivia Hestand and Kayden Merino; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was known for saying "It's a wonderful life, and we have fun." She sang and laughed her way through life's ups and downs, leaving a legacy that inspires others to be kind, helpful, and willing to roll up their sleeves to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
