Norma Jean Taylor Massie

Norma Jean Taylor Massie, 91, of Wichita Falls passed away May 16th, 2024.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday May 25th at Lunn's Colonial Chapel with Reverend Paul Goodrich officiating. A visitation will follow the service.

Norma Jean was born on January 16,1933, in Petrolia, Texas, the youngest of eight children born to James T. and Dora Haney Taylor. She grew up in Petrolia and graduated from Petrolia High School in 1950. On April 10th, 1953 she married the love of her life, Don Massie, who was her high school sweetheart and classmate. Don captured her heart when he winked at her in the high school hallway. They made their home in Wichita Falls, where she lived the rest of her life.

Jean was a Christian, homemaker and a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, known as "Nanny" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She dearly loved her family and they always came first. In her life, she was truly loved by all of them in return and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Before she started raising children, she worked as a bookkeeper at the home office of White Stores. After her kids were grown, she worked part-time in accounting for Bobby Evans Sporting Goods, and later for Moran Energy, Inc. She was past President of the Southwest Lioness Club, past member of the Women's Forum and, belonged to the Wichita Falls Country Club, where she enjoyed going to karaoke to watch her family sing.

Jean loved music, singing and dancing, though never understood how she married a man who could not carry a tune and had two left feet. She loved watching sports, especially the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, and was thrilled to see the Rangers finally win the World Series.

Norma Jean is survived by her son, Mark Massie and wife Carol of Bedford, Texas; Donna Jean Eaton and husband Skyler of Wichita Falls, Texas. Six grandchildren: Lindsay Davis and husband Paul of Denton, Texas; Jennifer Hofer and husband Josh of Northlake, Texas; Megan Lund and husband Marshall of Haslet, Texas; Sarah Schooley of Burkburnett, Texas; Alex Eaton and wife Alaina of Wichita Falls, TX; and Samantha Cox and husband Neil of Wichita Falls, Texas. Nine great grandchildren: Ellie Davis, Rhett Davis, Landon Hofer, Brody Hofer, Joslyn Schooley, Kinslee Schooley, Jaxon Cox, Revis Ray Cox, and Skyler Don Eaton.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Don Ray Massie; Son, Michael Ray Massie; Brothers, Raymond Taylor, Elmer Taylor, and Alvin Taylor; Sisters, Verna White, Ramona Evans, Edna McDaniel, and Doris Walters.
