Pauline "Polly" Elizabeth Sloan Spivey, 87, passed away Friday, April 26th, 2024, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She is survived by her daughter Terry Farris and son-in-law Mark, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in law, Nancy Basham, and brother-in- law Glenn Spivey (Judy), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Polly was born January 6, 1937, in Limestone, Maine, the seventh of seven children born to Hilkiah Sloan and his wife Emma Inez Thompson Sloan. Polly and Troy, her husband of 69 years, were married the day after she graduated from High School in 1954.  Polly followed Troy to his many different assignments while in the Air Force. She lived in Newfoundland, Canada, San Antonio, Texas, Guam, and Wichita Falls, Texas. Polly began her career in Civil Service as a clerk typist at Loring AFB in Limestone, Maine. She retired from a distinguished career after 33 years while working at Lackland AFB in San Antonio.

In 1999, Polly and Troy moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, to be closer to their grandchildren.  While in Wichita Falls, she started a hobby of knitting dishcloths.  All her grandchildren's teachers at Notre Dame and many professors and staff in the Math department and Computer Science department at MSU were given dishcloths as gifts. They were a much loved, sturdy, and practical gift.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home in Wichita Falls at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, May 3rd with the Reverend Liz Talbert officiating. Troy and Polly will be buried together at the National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas, at a later date.
