Peggy Jo Smith Fitts, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20 ^th at First Christian Church, 3701 Taft, Wichita Falls, Texas, with Dr. Mark Bender and Dr. David Hartman officiating. The family will receive guests at a visitation in the parlor following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Peggy was born November 25, 1931 in East Texas to Carl and Kitty Turner Smith.  She graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1949, and a year later married Joe Fitts on June 3, 1950.  They moved often before settling in Wichita Falls to raise their three sons. Peggy worked in their family business, Fitts Real Estate, before opening Peggy's Travel in Nocona and Bowie.  She eventually opened Discoveries Travel in Wichita Falls before retiring.

Peggy was active at the First Christian Church for many years where she sang in the choir, was in charge of the floral arrangements and participated in the Christian Women's Fellowship.  She was past president of the Woman's Forum, where she had been presented as a debutante years before.  She was also an active member of the Wichita Falls Cattle Women.

Peggy was a vivacious traveler, reader and lover of movies.  She was a true friend to many and had a heart for service.  She loved her unique name, Papaa, used by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Peggy was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe and her son, Tim.

Survivors include her sons, Jeff and wife Sharon of Henrietta; and Scott and wife Sherry of Wichita Falls.  Grandchildren include: Jaclyn, Justin (Chelsea), Braden (Kim) and Conner Fitts, and Addison Roberts (Ryan).  Great grandchildren include: Canon, Kerr, Martin, Lyles Fitts, and Noa and Micah Roberts.
