Pierce Harold "Tuffy" Fletcher, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, teammate, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He was 82 years old.

Born on October 23, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas Tuffy was the son of Pierce Harold Fletcher, Sr. and Geraldine Davis Fletcher. Though many knew him by his given name, to those who loved him most he was simply "Tuffy," a nickname that carried the same warmth, strength, and unmistakable spirit that defined his life.

Tuffy grew up in Kerrville, Texas where he became a standout athlete and proud graduate of Tivy High School, Class of 1962. During his years at Tivy, he excelled in both football and basketball and was widely respected not only for his athletic ability, but for his leadership, determination, and character. As captain of the football team his senior year, he inspired teammates with quiet confidence and unwavering dedication. His impact on Kerrville athletics remained unforgettable, and in 2021 he was honored with induction into the 16th Annual Kerrville Athletic Hall of Fame, a tribute that reflected both his remarkable talent and the admiration of the community he loved.

Following high school, Tuffy attended Texas A&M University, where he proudly played football from 1962 to 1966. His years as an Aggie were among his proudest memories, and the values of loyalty, perseverance, humility, and tradition stayed with him throughout his life.

Tuffy later made his home in New Iberia, Louisiana where he raised his family and built a life centered on love, commitment, and steady guidance. It was there that he became not just a father, but the cornerstone of his family's world.

While his athletic accomplishments were impressive, they were only a small part of the man his family knew and cherished. To his wife, children, and grandchildren, Tuffy was the steady foundation of the family. He was the kind of father who showed up for every moment that mattered, offered wisdom without judgment, and loved deeply and unconditionally. His presence brought comfort, strength, laughter, and a sense of security that words can hardly capture.

Tuffy had a deep love for family traditions and treasured attending the Fletcher Family Reunion each Father's Day weekend in Kerrville, a gathering filled with stories, laughter, and generations of memories. He also had a lifelong passion for Corvettes and took great joy in the beauty, craftsmanship, and excitement they brought him over the years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years, Patricia Fletcher; his mother, Geraldine Davis Fletcher; and his father, Pierce Harold Fletcher, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carole Fletcher; his son, Christopher Brent Fletcher and fiancée Courtney Lanclos of Youngsville, Louisiana; his daughter, Julaine Blanchard and her husband, Troy Blanchard of Katy, Texas; and his treasured grandchildren, Caroline Blanchard, Weston Blanchard, and Camille Fletcher, who brought immense pride and joy to his life.

Tuffy's legacy lives on not only in athletic honors and accomplishments, but in the countless lives he touched through his kindness, integrity, humor, and unwavering devotion to family. He was deeply admired, fiercely loved, and will be profoundly missed.

A Celebration of Life honoring Tuffy will be held in June in Kerrville for family and close friends.

The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at House of Hope for the compassion, kindness, and care they provided to Tuffy and his family.
