Rebecca Jean Baxter Mitchell (Becky), 80 of Iowa Park, TX passed away on Saturday, July 16th surrounded by her loving family.

There will be a viewing for Becky on Sunday, July 24th from 5:00-7:00 pm at Lunn's Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, TX.
Funeral services will be held on Monday July 25th at 11:00 am at Faith Baptist Church in Iowa Park, TX.

Becky was born on October 27th, 1941 in Kennett, Missouri to Carolyn and Archie Baxter. Her family moved to Mounds Arkansas, where she grew up on a cotton farm in North East Arkansas.

Becky was an outstanding athlete who played basketball and baseball and could hold her own against her two younger brothers. She graduated from Green County Tech High School and went on to attend Arkansas State University.

In college, Becky flourished. She majored in elementary education and pledged Alpha Omicron Pi sorority where she loved being referred to as an "A O Cutie Cutie Pie". She graduated in four years walking the stage just after her mother, Carolyn Baxter.

After graduation, Becky moved to Iowa Park, TX to begin her teaching career where she taught first grade for seven years. While in Iowa Park, she met the love of her life, Dennis Mitchell. They married on June 4th, 1966 at the Baptist Church in Mounds, Arkansas.

Becky's life was dedicated to loving and raising her four children. Dennis and Becky raised their family in Archer City, Graham, and finally Harlingen, TX. Becky tirelessly taught Bible Drill for almost 30 years and there is a generation of children who have hidden God's Word in their hearts as a result of her faithfulness.

After her children moved away from home, Becky returned to the classroom where she completed 23 years in education in Harlingen. She had a passion for teaching children to read and learn and was an extremely gifted teacher.

Above all, Becky loved her Lord and savior Jesus Christ. She spent her life serving Him and raising her family to love and serve Him. The friendships she has made along this journey are precious examples of how much she loved.

Becky is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dennis Mitchell, her four children, Kellie (Brandon) Jones of Dallas, TX, Scott (Stacy) Mitchell of Granbury, TX, Trey (Danielle) Mitchell of Frisco, TX, and Todd (Kathryn) Mitchell of Abilene, TX. She was Nanny to and adored her eleven grandchildren Syrah Mitchell, Keaton Jones, Sydney Mitchell, Payton Jones, Skyler Mitchell, Caleb Jones, Emily Mitchell, Haley Mitchell, Judson Mitchell, Becca Mitchell, and Lily Kate Mitchell. She is also survived by her brother, Charley (Carole) Baxter of North Little Rock, AR, sister-in-law Holly Baxter of Forest City, AR, sister-in-law Linda Mitchell of Pensacola, FL, sister-in-law Judy Mitchell of Ft. Worth, TX, sister-in-law Lea Ann Mitchell of Hamilton, VA, a special first cousin, Carolyn Nailing of Paragould, AR, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carolyn and Archie Baxter, and her brother Bill Baxter.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Becky's name to Faith Baptist Church of Iowa Park, TX.
