It would be difficult to count the number of lives touched by Becky Sanford.  On Sunday October 1, 2023, at the age of 71, Becky Hale Sanford, passed away comfortably at home after a long illness. She remains cherished and adored by her family, friends, and the many children who called her Nanna.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4 at Lunn's. Her Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 5 at Grace Church with Johnny Hawkins officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

A daughter of the late Mary (Biggerstaff) and Billy G. Hale, Becky was born "Rebecca Joe Hale" on February 28, 1952, in Wichita Falls. Becky graduated with dear friends from Rider High School in 1970. She married her beloved, Roger Sanford, on July 18, 1976, and has lived in Electra since 1992 where Roger is the pastor of Electra Community Church.

She fulfilled her lifelong desire to be a wonderful mother and helping others do the same. To know Becky was to know her gifted love of children. She devoted her life to her family.

She had a God-given gift of encouragement – always seeing the potential in those around her and encouraging them to walk with God. She was a loving wife, a wonderful mother, a loyal friend, a Nanna to many and an unforgettable foster mother to hundreds. Whether it was specializing in the needs of medically fragile foster children, teaching preschoolers, traveling the world, or mentoring other parents and foster parents, Becky had an adventurous spirit.  She was always ready to hop in her Suburban with a Sonic drink in one hand and a baby in the other.

Becky was a beautiful person inside and out whose zest for life was contagious. She exemplified what it means to trust God with her entire life. She had an innate gift of teaching and hospitality - opening her home to hundreds of foster children alongside their caseworkers, nurses, therapists, and parents. Her loving, giving, compassionate heart has been a light reflecting God's love to all she knew.

Becky was preceded by her parents in death. She is survived by the love of her life, husband of 47 years, Roger Sanford of Electra, Texas as well as her children, Chad and Amy Sanford of Anna, Texas; Jeff and Leslie Sanford of South Lake, Texas; Jennifer and Johnny Hawkins of Richardson, Texas; Benjamin and Felicia Sanford of Childress, Texas; Bethany and Eric Covington of Boerne, Texas; Carrie and Jimmy Robinson of Texarkana, Texas; Robert and Naomi Sanford of Electra, Texas, and Natalie Sanford of China Lake, California. In addition to her treasured 19 grandchildren and one newly welcomed great-grandchild, Becky is also survived by her younger sister Mary Margaret Criddle.
