Ruth Mary Zolnerowich, of Wichita Falls, passed unexpectedly at her home on May 6, 2021.

She celebrated 84 years of life with a quick wit, love for her family, and an open heart. Ruth is the daughter of Silas and Bernice (Nelson) Sheerer of Dushore, Pennsylvania. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Midwestern University in 1972. Ruth served diligently as a Registered Nurse at Wichita General Hospital in the Intensive Care Department. She sang with the Oratorio group at Midwestern for many years, as well as served as cantor for Holy Cross Orthodox Church. Ruth's hobbies included playing the piano, word puzzles, sewing, reading, and making cookies. Before moving to Wichita Falls, Ruth served as the organist for Atonement Lutheran Church in San Antonio.

Ruth has two children, Pattie Dunlap of Longmont, Colorado, and David Coleman and wife Terri of Wichita Falls, Texas. She has eight grandchildren: Matthew, Lisa, Stuart, Michael, Kyle, Phillip, Scott, and Taylor. Her step-children with husband, Col. Peter Zolnerowich, are Xenia Durham, Paula Tilker, Tom Zolnerowich, Greg Zolnerowich, Claudia Bouras, Lydia Paraskevas, and Stephen Zolnerowich. She also enjoyed his fifteen grandchildren. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jim, and her husband Peter. Her sisters Elsie Bohensky and Betsy Sheerer reside in Dushore, Pennsylvania.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 10 ^th at Lunn's. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12 ^th in Lunn's Chapel officiated by Father Peter Kavanaugh, of Saint Benedict Orthodox Church. Ruth will be laid to rest beside Peter at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery on Thursday, May 13 ^th at 10:15 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
