Sammy Burt Montgomery passed away on March 12, 2022.

The Rite of Committal and Military Honors will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 27, 2022, at Crestview Memorial Park with Deacon David Bindel officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Sammy was born April 22, 1947, attended Bonham, Barwise, and Rider High School, graduating in 1965.  He played for the inaugural Rider Raiders football team, and was offered a college scholarship, but entered the US Navy.  He was sent to Saigon, Vietnam, injured on January 31, 1968, and was awarded a Purple Heart and other numerous commendations.

During his career he specialized in law, and was stationed in England, Japan, the Philippines, Spain, Italy and San Francisco. Sammy retired in 1986 as Legalman Senior Chief Petty Officer. He returned to Wichita Falls and was a Wichita County Probation Officer.

Sammy was preceded in death by his parents – Sam and Lillian (Hobbs) Montgomery; and his sister, Sharon (Montgomery) VanAllen in 2020.

Sammy is survived by his brother Troy Montgomery, his wife Dana of Azle; Crystal (Montgomery) Colley, her husband Cory of Azle; Heather (Montgomery) Collins, her husband Ryan of Azle; Janis (Rodgers) Berryman, her husband Junior of Justin; Kevin Rodgers, his wife Robin of Holiday; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
