Samuel Joseph Risner Jr., known to his family and close friends as “Sammy,” 65, of Wichita Falls, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

A son of the late Samuel Joseph Risner Sr. and Evelyn (Gable) Risner, Sammy was born on April 22, 1961, in Amarillo, Texas. He was raised in Wichita Falls, where he graduated from Rider High School before continuing his education at Midwestern State University.

Sammy went on to build a successful career in advertising, serving as Vice President of a local advertising agency, where he specialized in video production. He took great pride in his work and was known for his creativity, talent, and dedication to his craft.

After building a fulfilling career, Sammy remained a lifelong learner with a deep appreciation for mathematics and history. Exceptionally brilliant, he was always eager to learn more and enjoyed a good challenge. He was also fiercely competitive, whether in work, conversation, or a friendly challenge. Beneath that competitive spirit, however, was a remarkably kind and generous man who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Sammy will be remembered for his intelligence, his generosity, his kindness, and the lasting impression he made on the people fortunate enough to know him.

Sammy was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Joseph Risner Sr.; his nephew, Ryan Iglehart; and his beloved dog, Marcy.

He is survived by his mother, Evelyn (Gable) Risner; his three children, Ren Risner, Rikki Amos of Alabama, her husband Robbie Amos, and Reese Risner; along with his beloved granddaughter, Rylie.

He is also survived by his sisters, Andrea McEachren, her husband Michael, and Kathleen Iglehart; his nieces and nephews, Shanna Ruppert, her husband Mike, Megan Jones and her husband Taylor, Bradley Iglehart and his wife Kayleigh, along with Heath Iglehart and his wife Stefanny; as well as numerous other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Wichita County in Sammy’s memory and in honor of his beloved dog, Marcy.
