On Sunday, May 9th, Sheila Sauer, known by loved ones as "Nanny," passed away at the age of 90.

She was born on March 31, 1931, and long before she was known as Nanny, she became "mom" to her three children in the 1950s: Debby, Don and Pat. She raised her family in Oklahoma City and by 1977, she had become "Nanny" - a nickname given by her first grandson, Nick, that would stick for the remainder of her life as the family around her grew and grew. To all of us, her kids, her grandkids, and her great grandkids, she was and forever will be our Nanny.

Nanny lived for her kids; she was the best kind of mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She spoiled us, loved us, laughed with us, and cared for us. Fiercely independent and full of life to the very end, she never met a stranger or had a discouraging word for anyone.

Despite her eternally positive demeanor, Nanny was no stranger to tragedy and loss. Today, she is reunited with husbands Don Lindsley, Hugh Sauer and Sam Albright her daughter Debby Lukehart, her sister, three brothers, aunt, mother, father and so many more.

She loved to dance and did so into her 80's.  She also enjoyed crocheting, decorating, painting, fishing, fashion, collecting knickknacks, cooking for loved ones, spending time with family and even just talking. Nanny loved to talk - the family joke was that Nanny would talk for hours to a wrong number. To her, everything was just "wonderful, darling!"

She lived at Lake Arrowhead for 19 years and loved being there. A lifelong Christian woman, she was a member of Lake Arrowhead Baptist Church.

A Memorial service celebrating Nanny will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home in Oklahoma City at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 15, with a reception to follow.
