Shirley Janice Johnson Barnett age 87, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on November 14, 2024.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19th at Lunn's. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment at Crestview Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Shirley was born in the community of McCrury in Red River County, Texas, on June 26, 1937, to Ben and Ellen (La Master) Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Barnett Sr., her parents, her brothers, SB Johnson (Junior), and Edwin D. Johnson (Bo) and his wife Evelyn Johnson, sister, Joy Condrey, brothers-in-law Rex Hopkins and Charlie Evans, daughter, Robin Barnett, and nephew Shannon Modawell.

She is survived by her daughter, Jana Mae Lane and her husband, Jon, and daughter Sherrie Ellen Barnett and fiancé Chuck Bultena. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Laci Janay Lane, Landon Jon Lane, Jadon Landry Lane, Frankie Sarabia, and Jessica Carter and her children, Daisy Carter and Archer Carter. She is also survived by two sisters, Rowena Hopkins and Sonia Evans, brother-in-law, Charles Condrey, along with many nieces and nephews.

Shirley graduated from Bogata High School in 1954 and was the Valedictorian of her Senior Class. She attended Paris Junior College and graduated from North Texas University. Shirley worked at the City of Wichita Falls, Builders Supply Co., and Barnett Glass & Mirror Co. For 28 years she co-owned and operated Charles Barr Building Co. Her true love and passion was teaching at Henrietta High School which she did for 16 years. She was loved dearly by her students and co-workers who became some of her BEST friends.

Shirley accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at age 9 years old and continued to love and serve him the rest of her life. She taught Sunday school, many Women's Bible Studies, Missionettes and sang in the church choir. She received certificates of completion in Leadership Training. Shirley was actively involved in her church, influencing many young men and women for Christ. Shirley was the smartest person we ever knew. She was witty and had a good sense of humor that could brighten anyone's day. She gave Godly counsel and guidance to many friends, family, and associates. She was the BEST mother and grandmother to our family. To know her was to love her and she was loved beyond measure. WE LOVE HER BEST!
