In Loving Memory of Shirley Wright Hodges

November 18, 1937 – April 3, 2025

With deep love and cherished memories, we announce the passing of our beloved Shirley Hodges who went home to be with the Lord on April 3, 2025. She was born on November 18, 1937, to John Jefferson Wright and Mary Ethel Wright.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Rev. Jerry Hodges, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage beginning on June 2, 1955. Also preceding her in death were her children Dianna Harris, Jimmy Hodges, and Jerry Ray Hodges; her sisters Pat, Maxine, Jessie, Deloris, Alene, and Joyce; and her brothers Johnny and Jack.

She is survived by her loving daughter Sharron Heard, and son-in-laws David Heard and Glenn Harris. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Amber Hussman, Tara Jackson, Kristin Harris, Cliff Harris, Heather Chastain, and Dustin Hodges, along with many great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. She also leaves behind her dear sister Jackie Osburn and brother Jimmy Wright.

A longtime and faithful member of Western Hills Baptist Church, she found great joy singing in the choir and fellowshipping with her church family. Her grandchildren—and grand-dogs—were the pride of her life, and she never missed a chance to show them off.

She had a sweet tooth and a sweeter spirit, and she never left the house without her signature red lipstick. Her warmth, wit, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on April 8th, at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Services will be held at Western Hills Baptist Church on April 9th at 10:00 a.m. Interment is to follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
