Shirley Sue Simmons, 87, formerly of Wichita Falls, passed away in McKinney on Friday, January 14, 2022.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19 ^th at Lunn's Chapel with Dr. Bruce Austin officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

A daughter of the late Ella Mae (Lanier) and Henry Bert Herron, Shirley was born on October 18, 1934, in Mangum, Oklahoma. She and John L. Simmons were married on August 9, 1954, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Shirley attended Draughan's Business School, becoming a career secretary. She worked as an executive secretary for White's Home and Auto office for 32 years. She later worked as a legal secretary and finished her career by working ten years for United Regional Health Care System.

Shirley enjoyed reading, gardening and collecting owls and Beanie Babies. Most of all, she loved being with her family, and her precious grandson, Seth.

Along with her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by her husband, John L. Simmons; and sisters, Peggy Lou Herron and Doris Tinsley.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Simmons and wife, Cora; and Michael Simmons and wife, Melissa; and grandson, Seth Simmons, all of McKinney; sister, Joann Ratliff of Hayden, AL; brother, Donald Herron and wife, Diane of Mustang, OK; and many nieces and nephews.
