Sonya Largin, 85, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, January 7, 2021.

The family will celebrate her life at a private graveside service at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Sonya was preceded in death by her parents W. E. Higgs and Ruby Fincher Higgs of Marietta, OK. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, WD "Dub" Largin, of Wichita Falls; and sister, Sylvia Rounsaville of Burleson, TX. Other survivors include her children, Kathy Ellis of Allen TX, son-in- law, Zac Ellis; Karen Nichols and husband Cliff of Holliday TX; and Danny Largin of Wichita Falls,TX; grandchildren, Jeremy Ellis and wife Melissa; Tyler Ellis and wife Erin; Ryan Ellis and wife Becca; Wes Nichols and wife Kait; Will Allgeier and wife Shala; Taylor Largin, Tara Largin, and David Largin. Great-grandchildren include Emma, Caleb, Walter, Brooklyn, Dallas, Nova, Ryatt, and Grace.

Sonya was born February 18, 1935, in Burneyville, Oklahoma. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1952 and received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Southeastern College in Durant, Oklahoma, in 1955 at the age of 19. She began her teaching career the following year in Lovington, New Mexico. Sonya and Dub were married June 14, 1956 in Marietta and began their lives together as teachers in Wichita Falls. She made a difference in the lives of children at Bowie, Sam Houston, and Alamo Elementary Schools in WFISD, retiring in 1986.

Sonya was a loyal coach's wife and loved supporting the Reagan Redbirds and Hirschi Huskies throughout her life. Sonya began a personal relationship with Jesus as a young child and was a member of Lamar Baptist Church.

She will be remembered as a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
