Stephen D. Marten, 72, of Holliday, received his Heavenly promotion by the grace of his Lord and Savior Jesus on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19th at Lunn's. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20th at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Duane Baumsch officiating. Interment will follow at Holliday Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

A son of the late Maxine (Gilbow) and Harry J. Marten, Steve was born on March 20, 1954, in Wichita Falls.

Steve graduated from Texas Tech University in 1976 with a Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, a field that reflected his lifelong passion for agriculture and the land. He dedicated his career to farming, specializing in wheat production while also cultivating a variety of other crops. Through hard work, perseverance, and a deep respect for God's creation, Steve built a life centered on serving his family, his community, and the agricultural industry he loved.

Steve generously gave his time to numerous organizations that strengthened his community. He served on several leadership boards, including Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Holliday Senior Citizen Association. His willingness to serve, offer guidance, and invest in others left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Steve will be remembered for his steadfast work ethic, his servant's heart, and the genuine care he showed to his neighbors and friends. His legacy lives on in the fields he tended, the community he helped build, and the lives he touched through his faithful service. This reflects the three brands Steve often stated he rode for: Faith, Family and Texas Tech.

Along with his parents, Steve was also preceded in death by brother Rusty Marten.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Tina Marten; son Dusty Marten and wife Melanie of N. Richland Hills, TX, daughter Lacy Coltharp and husband Cody of Holliday, TX; grandchildren Dylan Marten, Wyatt Marten, Kaelli Cox, Troy Muir, Caden Coltharp, Hadley Coltharp, Krosston Coltharp and 3 great-grandchildren; brother Gary Marten and wife Pam, sister Cindy Swanson and husband Terry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
