Terry Tavaras Petteway, a proud United States Air Force Veteran of Wichita Falls, Texas passed away peacefully on 8 March 2025 at the age of 50.

Terry was born on 12 April 1974, in Kinston, North Carolina to Evelyn Keys and Clinton Stokes.

Terry attended Jacksonville High School and then went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force (1993) allowing him to travel to Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, Dyess AFB, Texas, Germany, Osan Korea, Dover AFB, Delaware, Iraq, and France before retiring after 21 years of military service (2014). While in the military, he received his Master's Degree in Human Resources Management from Wilmington University, New Castle, Delaware. He continued his service as a civilian Supervisor Instructor, Petroleum, Oil and Lubricant (POL)while assigned to the 364th Training Squadron Sheppard AFB, Texas for over a decade.

Terry loved spending time with his wife of twenty-three years, children, family and friends. On any given day, he could be found playing video games, traveling, watching Judge Judy or documentaries, telling life stories, expressing his dissatisfactions about restaurant service, and making people laugh with his sometimes-inappropriate sense of humor.

Terry is preceded in death by his father, Clinton Stokes, grandparents, Milford and Hazel Key, Uncle Allen Whitfield, Aunt Mary "Kitty" Brooks and his niece Keltrice Stokes.

He is survived by his wife, Corinne Petteway, son, Teriq Petteway & daughters, Laken Corea, Brianna Hudson & Tianna Petteway. Sons-in-law, Anthony Corea & Danny Hudson. Daughters-in-law, Kim Petteway & Sofia Petteway. Grandchildren, Ryann, Jaden, Lucas, Briley and Oliver. Mother, Evelyn Key, siblings, Marvin Petteway, Michael Petteway, Tyree Petteway & Patrice Shuler.

He will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends, and co-workers for his sense of humor, generosity, kindness, selflessness and strong sense of duty.
