With gratitude for a life that touched many, Thomas French Hunter passed away on July 29, 2026, in Wichita Falls, at the age of 76.
Born on November 3, 1949, Thomas built a life rooted in hard work, learning, and time shared with those closest to him. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School with the Class of 1967 and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Radiology from Midwestern State University. Before college, he worked in construction as well as in the oil field with his father and brother at Hunter Brothers Inc. After graduation, he began the next chapter of his career with United Regional Healthcare Services, where he worked in the radiology department for more than 20 years.
Thomas is remembered by his daughter and son-in-law, Rebekah Chambers and Brian Hunt; his grandchildren, Emma Chambers, Rylie and Darren Sweely, Ava Chambers, Bailey Hunt, Hudson Chambers and Libby Chambers; his great-granddaughter, Parker Sweely; his brother, Scott Hunter, Jr.; his nephew and niece, Scott and Lynn Hunter; his niece and nephew, Sherrie and Paul Kelly; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Scott Hunter, Sr. and his mother Mary Hunter.
After retirement, Thomas especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In his later years, he moved closer to his daughter and grandchildren, where he lived out the remainder of his days. That time near family became a meaningful part of his final chapter and remains among the memories carried forward by those who knew him.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7th at Riverside Cemetery, 1810 5th Street, Wichita Falls, with Rev. Larry Shields officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.
Tom Hunter’s life will be remembered with appreciation for his years of works, his devotion to family, and the many moments of connection he shared with others.
