Thomas Dubose Pipes, 81, passed away in his home at Presbyterian Manor, April 10, 2021. A Memorial Service, under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home will be held at 1pm on Friday, April 16, at Edgemere church of Christ. A private family burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Wichita Falls.

Tommy was born May 14, 1939 in Wichita Falls, Texas. The son of Emmitt Dubose (Debe) and Christine Pipes, he was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1957. He attended Abilene Christian College, graduating in 1961. He married Judith Sharon Thorp on December 28, 1963 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Tommy was the Secretary/Controller at McClurkan's Department Stores for almost 20 years, until the Smith family sold the stores. He then began an over 30 year career in the life insurance industry. A third career opportunity presented itself one day when his good friend Ray Lunn called him and said, "Tommy are you busy today?...Good, put a suit on and come up to the funeral home." Tommy worked with Ray at Lunn's Colonial Funeral for over 20 years and loved helping families through a difficult time.

His most important work was the work he did for the church of Christ. He attended the Tenth and Broad church of Christ until the first Sunday in 1970. He and his family then joined the Edgemere church of Christ where he served as a deacon and an elder. He taught Sunday school for over 50 years and was very involved in local and foreign missions. He was instrumental in the beginning of the Sonshine House and went on numerous trips to Mexico, Honduras and Nicaragua to help spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. Tommy was very active in the Wichita Falls community. He served in many offices for the Northwest Texas Council and Boy Scouts of America. He was a longtime member and President of the downtown Kiwanis Club. He helped found the Greater Wichita Falls Soccer Association, served on the board of the Food Bank, chaired YMCA campaigns, helped with Wichita Falls Symphony fundraisers, worked for the Alamo and Fain PTA organizations, and served on many other community service projects.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerry Pipes and his brother-in-law James Andrew Thorp.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy; his children, Chris and wife Karen of Wichita Falls and Dennis and husband Jason of Scottsdale, Arizona; his sisters-in-law, Jane Fiore and husband Mike of Wichita Falls and Sue Ann Pipes of Fort Worth; his grandchildren, Allee and fiancé Trevor Jones of Edmond, Oklahoma, Logan Pipes and wife Delaney of Wichita Falls, and Riley Pipes of Lubbock, Texas; his great-granddaughter, Charlotte Grace Pipes; as well as numerous other family and friends.

Visitation will be immediately following the memorial service.
