Thomas David Witherspoon, 84, of Wichita Falls, Texas, went peacefully home to the Lord on December 17, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025, at Floral Heights Church of Christ 3200 Cheryl Street Wichita Falls, Texas, with Dennis Scroggins officiating. The family welcomes friends to the memorial service.

A son of the late Effie Mae (Deskin) Ford and Cecil Thurman Witherspoon, Tom was born on September 8, 1940, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Tom was a godly man who served as an elder at Floral Heights Church of Christ for many years. Although he was by nature a kind, caring man, he was first an ardent defender of the Word of God who was ready at a moment's notice to teach, reprove or exhort others to live godly lives as well.

Second only to his love for the Lord was his deep, abiding, love for his family. He spent more than 55 beautiful years with his wife, Barbara Toline Witherspoon (Duty), before she passed in 2014. A caring, loving husband, patient father and joyful grandfather, he was rarely happier than when he could share a joke or a gift with those he loved.

Tom spent the bulk of his career at KFDX T.V. station, where his example of hard work and attention to detail helped him rise from a starting position in production all the way to operations manager over the course of nearly 30 years. He was also a sales representative for Radio Shack for several years before retiring. He was a man of many talents and loved the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were two of his greatest passions which he cherished sharing with his family. He loved to travel and had a wonderful talent for creating things with his hands. He wrote poems, built furniture, crafted jewelry and left many creations in the world which were uniquely his own.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother (Cecil Ray Witherspoon).

He is survived by his two children, Brenda (Witherspoon) Jackson and husband Rodrick and David Witherspoon and wife Melissa. He also leaves five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. All of whom, dearly referred to Tom as Papa.
