Tommy (Tom) Edward Henderson, 66, of McKinney, formerly of Wichita Falls, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022, in Wichita Falls.

Memorial services will be Saturday, June 11th at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of McKinney, 315 N. Church Street, McKinney, Texas 75069. A reception and visitation will follow the service in the church fellowship hall for family and friends.

A son of the late Lorraine (Hill) and Troy Melvin Henderson, Tom was born on August 17, 1955, in Bowie, Texas.  He attended Wichita Falls High School and graduated in 1973.  He then began his lifelong career in Marketing and Sales.  He started his college education at Midwestern University in Wichita Falls but completed his BBA in Marketing at Texas Wesleyan University (2000) while working and raising a family.  His career started at Pier 1 Imports in Wichita Falls.  He advanced to Senior Manager of Visual Communications at Pier 1 before moving on to other endeavors.  During his career he was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of opening his own specialty retail business focusing on landscape design, garden accents and gifts.  He named his shop Downing Hill Garden Studio to honor the legacy of his and his wife's heritage.  Tom never met a stranger and he loved to entertain others.  He had a special touch to make a simple space look elegant and inviting.  Many fond memories of the varied gatherings will abound.

Along with his parents, his wife Elizabeth Hunt Henderson to whom he was married from June 14, 1980, until her death on February 28, 2013, preceded Tom in death. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ava Elizabeth Goad.

He is survived by his daughters, Katherine Henderson and Amy Goad and husband Josh all of Dallas; along with granddaughters, Lucy Jane and Harper Grace Goad; brother, Billy Henderson and wife Penny of Wichita Falls; sister Judy McDonald and husband Randy of Wichita Falls; and sister Shirley Burrow and husband Lonnie of Carrollton.  Tom is also survived and will be sorely missed by his partner in life, Greg Strangi and his loving, loyal pup, Maggie.
