Tommy G Henderson, a beloved family man and barber to countless Wichitans, passed away on October 18, 2024, at the age of 87.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21st at Lunn's with Dr. Rob McIlhaney officiating. Burial will follow the service at 4:30 p.m. at Temple Masonic Cemetery, in Temple, Oklahoma, under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Tommy was born on October 31, 1936, in Walters, Oklahoma, to Will and Dolly Henderson. He was raised in Temple, Oklahoma, where he excelled as a running back for the Temple Tigers and graduated from Temple High School in 1957.

Tommy's life was marked by dedication to his faith, family, and community. As a young man, he became a Christian, a commitment that guided him throughout his life. On September 28, 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Sue McIlhaney. They raised two children together, Craig and Tracy. Their union was blessed with 66 years of love and companionship.

After completing Barber School in Fort Worth, Tommy discovered his true calling as a barber. He owned and operated the University Park Barber Shop in Wichita Falls, Texas, for 53 years until his retirement in June 2012. Alongside his barbering career, he also managed Henderson Rental Properties.

A man of faith, Tommy was an active member of Fairway Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, before later becoming a member of Lamar Baptist Church.

His commitment to youth development was evident in his years of coaching Boys Club Little League Football. Tommy was also a lifelong supporter of Rider High School athletics and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Through their wins (and many losses in recent years), he never wavered in his devoted support for the boys.

Many will remember Tommy for his sense of humor. His genuine smile and laughter was contagious to all who were around him, even when he was the brunt of the joke. Family and friends will always remember the good times at Tommy's "showplace" at Lake Arrowhead.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Carol Henderson; his children Craig Henderson (Ana) and Tracy Patrick (Allen). His grandchildren, Derek Henderson, (Kelli), Tyler Henderson (Jessica), Mason Patrick (Erika), Will Patrick, Christen Gill (Juan), Matthew Henderson (Alexis), Roger Henderson (Yaneli) and eleven great grandchildren.

He is also survived by siblings Vernie Henderson, Wanda Singleton (Bobby), Gracie Brinkley, Betty Shelly, and Kenneth Henderson (Mary). Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Dolly Henderson, and siblings Joyce Estelle Henderson, Billie Henderson, Evella Eidson, Douglas Henderson, and Dean Henderson, plus extended family and friends.
