Traci Jo Poston passed away on the evening of December 11, 2021 while peacefully surrounded by loved ones in her home.

She was born to Ned and Linda Bates on June 24, 1964 in Wichita Falls, Texas. After graduating from Wichita Falls High School in 1982, she attended Midwestern State University, where in 1984 she earned her Associates Degree in Nursing. After becoming a licensed Registered Nurse, Traci went on to work in the OR at Wichita General Hospital, where she would later meet her husband, Dr. James G. Poston. She continued her nursing career until the birth of her only son in 1996, at which point she dedicated herself to being a full-time Mother.

She is survived by her father, Ned Bates of Lake Kickapoo, her sister Bethany Horschler and her husband Ron of Wichita Falls, her stepdaughters Ellen Torres and Rachel Sherman of Massachusetts, and her son Aaron Poston, his wife Amber, and their daughter Lydia of Wichita Falls.

Traci requested that no funeral services take place, but that her ashes be scattered over the lake at sunset when the setting sun lays directly-opposite the ascension of a harvest moon.

Witty and of sharp character, one would never have imagined just how much she loved to laugh. She embedded herself in the lives of those she loved, and generously volunteered countless hours of her time to do so. Family and friends grew closer, especially when brought together over one of her meals. She lived for Autumn, for the changing of the leaves, for the start of another season of football, for the careful placement of her haybales and the precise arrangement of the pumpkins and scarecrows that complemented them.

While many will remember her for many distinctly different reasons, I will remember her for her smile, by the strength with which she met adversity, and by the Autumnal warmth of her heart.
