Vida Faye (Powell) Roberts Lee was born July 1, 1930, to John Henry Powell and Mary Ellen (Rivers) Powell, in Gould, Oklahoma.  She went Home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 27, 2024, at the age of 94 years. She "gave her life to Jesus when she was 9 years old."

Funeral services will be at 10:00 on Tuesday, August 6th at Lunn's Chapel with Pastors Kevin Baker and Paul Coronado officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home

She attended Gould Public Schools where she graduated from High School.  She fell in love, at the age of 17, with Frank Lloyd Roberts, a handsome, 21 year old World War II Coast Guard Veteran.  He drove many weekends from Wellington, Texas, to Gould, Oklahoma, to court her to be his wife.  They were married August 1, 1947 in Wellington, Texas.  They moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, in 1949.  Her handwritten note in her Bible said they had "34 years of happiness and raised a wonderful family of 3 children."  They had 2 daughters, Patricia Ann Roberts Patterson and Darla Jean Roberts Ryan; and 1 son, Johnny Lloyd Roberts.  Frank passed away November 13, 1981, at the age of 55 years. And their beloved son, Johnny, passed away February 5, 2009, at the age of 53 years.

Vida's life was always centered around serving the Lord and her family.  She enjoyed being a loving wife, Mom, Granny and Great-Granny, while making her house a welcoming home to all!  She loved to sew, cook and shop on Saturdays in Wichita Falls!  She and Frank often welcomed and fed home cooked meals to the servicemen at Sheppard Air Force Base.  And many preachers enjoyed a Sunday lunch in their home through the years.

In 1963, she and Frank moved to Iowa Park, Texas.  They were active members at First Baptist Church; made many wonderful friends and loved serving the Lord there for many years.  Family life centered around the church in worship, teaching ministries, mission trips, church camps, Glorietta retreats, and mission building trips.  And most every summer included a fun-filled, relaxing week camping with family and friends at Garner State Park.

From 1965 to 1978, Vida enjoyed working as a credit clerk for Whites Auto Stores, in Wichita Falls, Texas.  She retired to spend more time caring for and playing with her grandchildren!

In 1986, five years after the passing of her beloved Frank, she and Johnny Lee found love and happiness again, following the loss of both of their beloved spouses.  They were married in Johnny's home in Iowa Park, Texas, surrounded by their delighted families on July 7, 1986.  They enjoyed 26 years of marriage before Johnny's passing on November 7, 2012.  They served together at the Church of God in Iowa Park, where Johnny also played guitar and sang.

Time spent with their growing family gave them great joy. Vida loved the addition of Johnny's children to her heart and life and enjoyed wonderful times with Mark Lee, Donna Lee Boling, and Johnny D. Lee, their spouses Sandra, Wayne, and Ruthie, their children and grandchildren…those times made even more special with family guitar playing and singing!  Johnny even wrote a very special song for Vida, which she loved hearing him sing to her!

One of Johnny's many talents and life-long hobby was refurbishing buses and motor homes.  And Vida's sewing expertise and decorating skills made them beautiful!  They enjoyed many trips to visit family, friends and hear gospel music in Branson and cool off from Texas heat in Colorado!

Vida leaves a legacy of Christ-like love and teaching of God's Word by example to her children, step-children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Johnny Roberts, wrote in 1981 for his Dad's (Frank Roberts) memorial service that, "from our mother, we learned the meaning of love, the joy of living and the value of a Christian home…a home where God and love dwelt."  Now Vida is truly Home in Heaven, where the love of Jesus dwells eternally.

Vida is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Frank and Johnny; son, Johnny Roberts; 3 brothers, Gene Powell, Billy Powell, and Johnny Powell; and 3 sisters, Viola Powell Drury, Velma Powell West and Vona Powell Davis.

She is survived by her 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Patti and Wendell Patterson of Charlotte, NC and Darla and Harry Ryan of Nocona, TX and 1 daughter-in-law, Andrea Roberts of Imperial, PA.

She has 8 grandchildren, Brian Patterson; Brandon Patterson and wife, Danielle; Michelle Roberts Horak and husband, Brent; Justin Roberts and wife, Audrie; Janay Roberts Dumire and husband, Jason; Daron Blackerby and wife, Jamie; Scott Sczcepinski; and Drake Sczcepinski and wife, Payton.  She has 10 great-grandchildren, along with many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Her handwritten note left in her Bible for us said: "When it comes my time to go home to be with my Lord, don't grieve for me.  I just hate to leave you, but just be prepared to meet me in Heaven, as I will be waiting for you.  I love you all so much."

Jesus said: "I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me."  John 14:6

That's the truth and wisdom Vida learned from God's Word.  She trusted Jesus as her Savior.  She believed in His miracle working power.  And during times of sorrow and struggles, she found peace and comfort in His Abiding Presence…one day at a time, in this life…and now for all eternity in Heaven.

The family of Vida Roberts Lee would like to express our sincere thanks and praise for the loving, caring staff and many friends at Presbyterian Manor and Perkins-Prothro Health Care, her home for 16 years, as well as the caring staff of Hospice of Wichita Falls.  They have loved her like family and cared for her with the love and compassion of Jesus Christ.  Each one has been a blessing to her and all our family through all these years.  There are no words to express our deepest appreciation for each one of you!  Thank you from the depths of all our hearts!  Miss Vida loved you all!
