Waida Lee was born May 14, 1929, in Carbon, Texas, the only daughter of Lee and Gene (McGaha) Fields. She passed away on October 6, 2023, at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband of almost 46 years, Robert D. Kelley. To this marriage were born two daughters who survive: Kay Kelley Clark and her husband Jimmy of Weatherford, TX, and Ann Kelley Barfield, widow of John W. Barfield of Wichita Falls, TX. Also surviving are grandchildren Amber Barfield Flores and husband, Carlos of Wichita Falls, TX; Wesley Clark and wife Amanda of Munday, TX; and Kelley Clark and wife Taylor of Commerce, TX. She was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren: Stella and Sebastian Flores; Judah, Elliott, Andersen, Chelsen, Ramsey, and Grady Clark; and Avery and Kye Clark.

In 2001, Waida married Ted Medford of Abilene, formerly of Carbon. She was preceded in death by Ted in 2008 and by his son Steve in 2019. She is survived by Ted's son Mike and wife Vicki of Las Cruces, NM; 5 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter and 5 great-grandsons.

Waida loved her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and her church. She worked in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years at First Baptist Church in Eastland, TX, and First Baptist Church in Graham, TX. She was Secretary of First Baptist, Graham for over 14 years and also did other secretarial work in Cisco, Eastland, and Graham.

She attended school in Carbon and Cisco and graduated from Carbon High School in 1945 and Cisco College in 1947.

Waida is also survived by many cousins and 2 very special life-long friends: Marjorie Hines Adair of Georgetown and Betty Hastings Sims of San Antonio.

A service will be held Monday, October 16th at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Graham, TX.
