Walter H. Hohfeld, 98, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:45 on Wednesday, January 13 ^th at Lunn's. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M in Lunn's Chapel with Deacon David Bindel officiating. Interment will be at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

A son of the late Elizabeth (Mueller) and Hubert Hohfeld, Walter was born on January 18, 1922, in Witten, Germany. He was a baker who loved to sing while baking at Margie's Sweet Shop, and would often break out in song ANYWHERE. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Walter danced many a Friday nights away at the Senior Zone.

Walter's memoirs record these details: "Sometime in 1950, I met a young lady by the name of Margarete Vollings.  She didn't seem to care about me much-she didn't really know what to think about this old boy! We went out dancing once or twice, then we went to church together, then we went together all the time, and we fell in love. Through good times and bad times, we always stuck together for 50 years-and we were still in love."

"With all the damage done during the war, there was a severe shortage of apartments. To get on the list for one, you had to be married, so on November 17, 1951, we were married in a civil ceremony at the court house. Margarete continued to live at home with her family-I lived at home my family! When we were finally notified our new apartment was ready, we moved in all our furniture and were married in church on July 9, 1952."

"We decided to immigrate to the USA and started the paperwork again! By the summer of 1954, we were informed that we had been accepted for immigration to America. We arrived in Wichita Falls on November 16, 1954. I started working at Ebner Brothers Packing Company and remained there until 1971. In 1971, I started the bakery with Margarete from 1971-1994, until retirement. At that point, we began traveling."

Along with his parents, Walter was also preceded in death by his wife Margarete Joshaphine Volllings Hohfeld; and sons, Michael John Hohfeld, and Gerald Walter Hohfeld; and grandson Michael Titus Hohfeld.

Walter is survived by grandchildren, Brooke Hohfeld, Brandon Hohfeld, Houston Hohfeld, Elijah Hohfeld and Layla Hohfeld; and girlfriend, Edna Jennings.
