On Friday, February 4, 2022 Waylan Dean Brown, beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, coach, and friend, entered peacefully into the presence of the Lord. He was 90 years old.

A memorial service will take place at Floral Heights United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 1p.m.

Waylan was born in his family home in Bluegrove, Texas on November 9, 1931 to R. E. Brown and Safrona Mae (Favor) Brown. He was a graduate of Henrietta High School. He married his dearest Aimee on April 11, 1952. They shared nearly 69 years of marriage together until Aimee's death in 2021, and built a lasting legacy of love, faith, and commitment. They were a great team, and together raised 2 wonderful children, Pamila and Ricky. They were members of Floral Heights United Methodist Church for over 40 years.

Waylan entered the Army in 1953 and served several years stationed in New York, achieving the rank of Corporal. Following his discharge from service, Waylan began a 40 year career in construction, and even ran his own construction company, Brown's Construction, for close to a decade. Waylan enjoyed his work, but also found much fulfillment in coaching youth sports. For 14 years he coached his son and so many others in football, basketball, baseball, and track. His love for coaching led him to continue on even when his own son had moved on to junior high and high school. He was an excellent coach, always placing the priority on bettering his players over winning.

Waylan will be remembered by his family and friends for his kind heart, creative problem solving, and wonderful sense of humor. Waylan would do (or build, or create) anything he could to help make life better for anyone, and he delighted in doing so. But in all honesty, to be teased by Waylan was to be truly loved by him. He lived to make someone smile, which is perhaps why one of his most favorite roles in his younger days was that of a Rodeo Clown. He never stopped clowning around, even through some of his final days.

Waylan's greatest joy was realized in his family and those closest to him. From family holidays and Sunday Dinners, to getaways with his group of camping buddies, The Good Ole' Joes, nothing made him happier than time together with the ones he loved, and he would always relish every moment - often reliving them with pictures hung all around him.

Waylan in preceded in death by his parents, R.E. Brown and Safrona Mae (Favor) Brown; his brother, Roy "PeeWee" Brown; his sister, Naomi Hart; and his beloved wife of nearly 69 years, Aimee Brown.

Waylan is survived by his daughter, Pamila Brown, of Wichita Falls; his son, Ricky Brown, of Wichita Falls; his granddaughter, Randi Callahan, and husband Bobby of Wichita Falls and their children, Kye and Layla Kate; and his grandson Connor Brown of Justin.
