Wilbert Lee Washam, 81, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ this past Thursday, July 20, 2023, here in Wichita Falls, Texas. Wilbert was born on June 19, 1942, to E.Y. Washam and Elvaree Scales Washam in Ballinger, Texas.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 29th at 10:30 a.m. at Southwest Baptist Church with Pastors Richard Ross and David Bishop officiating.

He attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, and graduated from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Upon graduation through the ROTC program, he joined the army as a second lieutenant in the chemical corps.

After working as a chemist for several years, he started his own business. WW Pool and Spa Service. He did the job he loved until he retired in 2019.

He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where he was a deacon, a part of the children's ministry, and a member of the choir and several other singing groups. He also taught Chemistry at Liberty Baptist Christian School. In 1989, he and his wife moved their membership to Southwest Baptist Church. There he sang in the choir and in a quartet.

Wilbert is preceded in death by his parents, E.Y. Washam and Elvaree Scales Washam.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Washam, his daughter Laura Burke and husband Glen, his daughter Letitia Ross and husband Richard, thirteen grandchildren, and twenty three great grandchildren.

Wilbert will forever be missed until we are reunited in Heaven. Come quickly Lord Jesus.
