Woodie Dean Marrs, 89, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, April 30 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Woodie was born in Westville, Oklahoma on January 28, 1934 to Bill and Katharine Marrs. He attended Southern Arkansas State University on a football scholarship. He also served in the United States Army as a proud member of the 82 ^nd Airborne Division. Some of Woodie's fondest memories and best stories involve parachutes. After his military service, Woodie spent most of his life in sales, selling corrugated boxes for Hoerner Waldorf, then Champion International. Woodie's infectious laugh, Cheshire-cat grin, and warm personality made him a great salesman and a friend to anyone who met him.

Woodie was a faithful member of the Pollard Memorial United Methodist Church in Tyler, Texas for many years. He loved his Epworth Sunday School class and Tuesday morning coffee group. He was also actively involved in many church and community service organizations. He enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels and bringing smiles to the faces of those he encountered. Upon relocating to Wichita Falls, he was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church.

Woodie is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim Marrs, and nephew Fred Marrs. He is survived by Ann, his wife of 43 years; sons Marc Marrs of Denver, Colorado, David Marrs (Jill) of Littleton, Colorado, and daughter Jennifer McLarty (John) of Wichita Falls, Texas; eight grandchildren: Ellie Marrs, Max Marrs, Meg Marrs, Charlie Marrs, Lily Marrs, Noah McLarty, Jordan McLarty, and Nathan McLarty; nephew Kelly Marrs and niece Kathryn Marrs.
