Mrs. Frances Lockhart Jackson, 94, of Wichita Falls passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Center in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018, at Lunnís Chapel with Dr. Isaac Butterworth officiating. The family will receive visitors Sunday from 5 to 6 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crestview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunnís Colonial Funeral Home.
She was born March 9, 1924 in Galveston, Texas to Judge John W. and Frances Harris Lockhart. She graduated from Galvestonís Ball High School, attended Mary Baldwin College in Virginia, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1944. On November 29, 1944, she married J. L. Jackson, III, M.D. of Wichita Falls and accompanied him to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for his residency in obstetrics and gynecology. While there she and Dr. Jackson had two sons, John Lockhart Jackson and David Edward Jackson. After completing his residency, the couple settled in Wichita Falls where Dr. Jackson established his medical practice with Mrs. Jackson managing the household and later the business of the practice. Shortly after returning to Texas, they had a daughter, Eloise Lenoir Jackson. Mrs. Jackson was an active member of many community organizations throughout her lifetime including volunteering at the Kell House and counseling woman enduring breast cancer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son David, aunt Eloise Lyon Harris, and sister, Mrs. Josephine Lockhart Reid.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by son John L. Jackson and daughter-in-law Dona Jackson; daughter Eloise J. Howell and son-in-law Jay Howell; grandchildren: Brian L. Jackson and wife Jill Jackson, J. L. Jackson, IV and wife Ivette Jackson, and Saranne Howell Labay and husband Joshua Labay; four great grandchildren: Dylan L. Jackson, Collin C. Jackson, Chloe F. Jackson, and Alayna M. Jackson; nephew Dr. Warren Reid and wife Dr. Martha Reid and family; niece Mrs. Frances Thomas; and nephew Mr. Patrick Norwood and wife Phyllis.
She is also survived by her extended family: Mr. and Mrs. William Altman and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Shannon Baldwin and son, and Mr. James Cox.
The family wishes to extend their profound gratitude to Mrs. Doris Altman and her family for many years of friendship, love, and support; Ms. Joyce Murdock for her recent friendship, compassion, and tender loving care; the entire staff of Presbyterian Manor for their many years of service and support; and Hospice of Wichita Falls and Visiting Angels Senior Care for their recent prompt, professional, and compassionate care.
