Retired Lt. Colonel Donald W. Ramsey passed away on Wednesday, May 09, 2018, in Wichita Falls, Texas. A military service with full honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. at The Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery on May 21, 2018. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunnís Colonial Funeral Home. Donald was born in Valdasta, TX on July 21, 1935 to William Odell Ramsey and Geraldine Farley Ramsey. In 1956 he enlisted in the United States Air Force on Sept. 28, 1956. Donald married Judy Lynn Harrison of Temple, Tx. in September, 1957 after he graduated from Aviation Cadets. He was flying B-25'2 out of Waco, Tx. He was a 2nd Lt. at this time. They had four children together: Kyle, Jane, Laura, and Clint. In October 2009 he married Agatha Bernice Bellah.
Donald served as a F-4E combat command pilot in the 366th Fighter Wing, 4th Fighter Squadron at Da Nang AFB, South Vietnam from 1969-1971, 18 months in the country. The majority of his flying was in the Air Training Command flying T-28, T-34, T-33, T-38, and T-37 aircraft as an instructor pilot. He flew T-39 aircraft (like a small business jet hauling VIPs all over Europe, Africa, and the Middle East) in Wiesbaden AFB including Adm. John S. McCain Jr. from 1965-1969. He retired as Deputy Wing Commander of the 80th Flying Training Wing at Sheppard AFB in 1979 as Retired Lt. Colonel. After the USAF he sold real estate in WF and taught real estate at Vernon Community College.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents William and Geraldine Ramsey, sister Betty Thrasher, brother Sidney Ramsey, and son Clint Ramsey.
He is survived by his wife Agatha Ramsey and children: Kyle Ramsey and wife Jeanette of Georgia, Jane Simmons and husband Michael of Dallas, Tx., Laura Fuschino and husband Robert of Colorado, Wayne Thomas and wife Tamera of Florida, Frances Strahan and husband Michael of Wichita Falls, Tx., Ronnie Thomas and wife Sylvia of Bay City, Tx., Rita Clark of Wichita Falls, Tx., Glenda Staats and husband Chris of Moore, Ok., Terry Bellah and wife Nancy of Wichita Falls, Tx., and Jerry Bellah and wife Shirley of Bowie, Tx., sisters Wynn Shackleford of Richardson, Tx., and Sue DePew of Houston, Tx along with 24 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
