Jodie "Bro. Joe" Jerome Cunningham, Jr.
August 28, 1929 - May 30, 2018

Jodie J. “Bro. Joe” Cunningham, Jr., 88, of Wichita Falls, Texas passed from his earthly life and entered eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, on Monday, June 4, 2018, at Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Neal of First Baptist Church, Wichita Falls, officiating. Interment will follow at Burkburnett Cemetery under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 4:00 PM-5:00 PM on Sunday, June 3, at Lunn’s.

A son of the late Jodie and Myrtle Cunningham, Jodie was born on August 28, 1929, in Madison, Arkansas. He and his wife Mary Ann (Hunter) were married on May 20, 1951, in Wheatley, Arkansas. They recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.

Earning a number of ribbons, awards and medals, Brother Joe served 14 years in the United States Air Force; rising to the rank of Tech Sergeant. He surrendered his life to the ministry in 1957. He served the Lord as Pastor at Flour Bluff Baptist Church, Corpus Christi, TX; First Baptist Church, Yorktown, TX; First Baptist Church, Archer City, TX; Southside Baptist Church and Allendale Baptist Church, Wichita Falls, TX. Harmony Heights Baptist Church, Joplin, MO; and Central Baptist Church, Burkburnett, TX. He and his wife were members of Lamar Baptist Church and are currently members of First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, TX.

While Brother Joe was a veteran who was honored to have served his country, he was most proud of his service to the Lord and to his family. He gladly shared his testimony of how God changed his life when he accepted Christ as his Savior and Lord. He loved to brag on his family.

Jodie was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, also daughter, Sandra Christine (Sandi) Adams, and great-grandson Jeremiah Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann; their children, Marie Cribbs and husband Floyd, Jr.; Jodie Cunningham, III and wife Cindy; Jackie Brown; Judy Wall and husband Herb, and James Cunningham and wife Denise; Son-in-Law, Earston Adams and wife Carol; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Faith Mission (1300 Travis Ave., Wichita Falls, TX 76301) or Hospice of Wichita Falls (4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, TX 76310).
