Leo Daniel Brittain, a resident of Wichita Falls, passed away July 3, 2018 in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the age of 79. He was born March 29, 1939 in Amarillo, Texas, to Ernest Theodore Brittain and Vida (Smith) Brittain. He married the love of his life Karin Lee Moore on July 3, 1959, in Amarillo, Texas.

Visitation will be from 6-7 Friday, July 6, at Lunnís Colonial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in Fulton Gym, Vernon, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunnís Colonial Funeral Home.

After his stint in the NFL didnít work out, Leo Brittain took a job in Clovis, New Mexico, in 1964, where he began his coaching and teaching career of 41 years. He was a head coach for 29 years with a record of 211-115-11. His team won 12 district championships, 11 bi-district championships, and state semifinalists 5 times with 1 state championship. Not only did Leo Brittain win championships, more importantly he developed high school football players into successful men and fathers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Vida Brittain; one sister, Ruth Richardson, and three brothers, Ronald Brittain, Donald Brittain and Dwane Brittain.
Leo is survived by his wife of 59 years, Karin Brittain; three children, Bryan Brittain and wife Lori of Lago Vista, TX; Brent Brittain and wife Heidi of Red Oak, TX; Kristi Turner and husband Sean of Whitesboro, TX; nine grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

In memory of Leo Brittain, a scholarship fund has been set up at Waggoner National Bank in Vernon, TX. All floral arrangements should be delivered to the Fulton Gym the day of the service.
