A son of Kit Gray, Sr., and Viola Hyde Gray, Kit was born December 27, 1924, in Burkburnett, Texas. He attended public schools in Wichita Falls and graduated from Wichita Falls High School. He attended Texas Tech University until he was drafted into the United States Army. After proudly serving his country, Kit returned to Texas Tech to obtain his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. He went to work for Texaco in Wyoming doing seismic work. Not enjoying the cold weather and suffering frost bite, Kit decided it was time for a career change and enrolled in the University of Oklahoma to earn another degree, this time in Geology. Upon completion, he returned to Wichita Falls where he joined his father in the oil business. Until his retirement, Kit was an independent producer for over 60 years.

Kit married the love of his life, Betty Ryle, in 1950. They were married for over 58 years, until Betty passed away. They were blessed to have two children, Mark and Dan Gray. Kit was an active member of First Baptist Church where he was a deacon, taught Sunday school and R.A.ís. He was very involved with the Gideons, where he had the opportunity to participate in several ministries. Kit considered it a privilege to share the gospel to inmates through the Gideon Jail Ministry. He especially enjoyed getting to distribute Bibles to Clay County 5th graders. Kit and Betty loved to travel and especially enjoyed spending summers in Red River. He continued making the trip every year until his 90th birthday.

Kit is survived by his sons, Mark and wife Sharon and Dan and wife Peggy, all of Wichita Falls; four granddaughters; Brooke Luxton and husband Wes of Wichita Falls, Amy Gray of Arlington, VA, Sarah Gray of Austin, TX, and Taylor Gray, of Springfield, MO; and two great-grandchildren; Krew and Ava Luxton. He is also survived by one brother, Bill Gray of Wallisville, TX and sister-in-law, Freida Ryle of Wichita Falls, TX, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, and his sister, Dorothy Armstrong.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Wichita Falls Habitat for Humanity, 1206 Lamar St, Wichita Falls, TX 76301, or Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, TX 76310.
