Delwood Charles Lee, 90, passed away on July 28, 2018 in Wichita Falls. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Church of the Good Shepherd with Rev. Brian Chase officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Del was born on March 22, 1928 to Charles and Jessie (Thomas) Lee in Winfield, Kansas. He grew up in North Texas from Nocona to Electra where he and his identical twin brother, Derwood Anderson Lee played sports, received a football and academic scholarships to Rice Institute and from where they both graduated in 1950.
Delwood was a graduate of Electra High School and played in the 1946 Oil Bowl. As a member of the Rice University Football team he played in the 1947 Orange Bowl and in the 1949 SWC Championship Game. With his twin brother, they were both members of the Rice University team that won the 1950 Cotton Bowl.

Delwood married Mary Gay Long on June 10, 1950 in Wichita Falls, Texas at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Del worked at Boley Featherston Insurance Company for many years as an insurance counselor. He was active in the community of Wichita Falls and an avid supporter of the BCI. Del was involved in numerous civic organizations where he served as President of the Camp Fire Girls, President of the Kiwanis Club, and President of the WFHS Booster Club. Del was a 90th Degree Mason and Past Potentate of Lodge 635, a member of the Mavericks and NCAA representative for the Pioneer Bowl. He was one of the founders of All Saints Episcopal Church and a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd.

Del was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary Gay Long Lee; his daughter, Beverly Lawson; his identical twin brother, Derwood Lee; a younger sister, Dolores Lee Stalker; a grandson, Rob Lawson; and son-in-law, Patrick Collier
Del is survived by his four children, Charles Andrew (Andy) Lee, Robert Arthur (Art) Lee, Jeffrey (Jeff) Alan Lee and wife Bobbie; Mary Anne Lee Collier; nine grandchildren: Rick Lawson and wife Susan, Jeff Lawson, Bradley Litteken and wife Nynemi, Leslie Lee, Kellie Lee, Katharine Esser and husband Erik, Elizabeth Eichhorn and husband Victor, Melissa Bratcher and husband Blake, and Emily Lee; great granddaughters, Shannon Lawson and Belia Litteken; brothers-in-law, Bob Long and Jim Stalker; and son-in-law, Loyd Lawson.

Del had a passion for Rice football and other sports from Rice. As a member of the R Club he recruited several high school athletes from Wichita Falls and North Texas for football scholarships.

Del loved God and his great country! From working on the Waggoner Ranch in high school to roundups at the Stephens Red Top Ranch, Del was a true Texan at heart.
