Vickye Ann Banner
Vickye Ann Banner
July 8, 1950 - November 30, 2018
Our sweet, loving sister, and aunt, Vickye joined her heavenly family on November 30, 2018 at House of Hope. Diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 57, she courageously, lived with hope and trust in her family, friends and Jesus Christ, as her Lord and Savior. She was 68 years old.
She was born July 8, 1950, and moved to Wichita Falls from Austin, with her family in 1952. Vickye attended a brand new Fain Elementary School, Barwise Jr. High, and Rider, graduating in 1968. She enrolled in a dual program at MSU and SAFB, certifying her with an Associate degree in X-Ray Technology. She interned at Bethania Hospital and upon graduation, moved to Austin and worked at the Austin State Hospital until retirement. Vickye was a member of the Texas National Guard for many years ,and proudly served her country. She also worked at Lohman’s and Steinmart, where she was honored as Employee of the Year. Vickye loved everything about the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorn football.
She is survived by a loving family and many devoted friends. Her three sisters: Rosana and Paul Hughes, Kristy and Chris Kent, Kara and Lanny Quarels. Her nieces and nephews: Tara Scheurer Bready, Mark Scheurer, Caitlin Kent, and Jack Kent, Michael and Jason Hughes.
Three great- nephew/nieces: Jack, Ellie and Ben.
Her life will be cherished and remembered as a funny, loving, compassionate, sweet sister who wanted everyone to always be happy and the first one to forgive and forget all transgressions. Her life reflected that genuine kindness in the amount of friends who blessed her continuously.
Her parents and grandparents will be celebrating in Heaven: Jack and Kathy Banner, Jack and Lela Banner, her brother, Steve Banner and many other close friends and relatives. She will bring her special gift of hugging everyone. Everyone was a friend who needed a hug in Vickye’s life.
She was a member of the University Christian Church in Austin, Texas, where she was baptized and where her Grandmother, Lela was a member. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Wichita Falls.
Vickye’s service of celebration will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 3, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel, 3601 Taft, Wichita Falls with Dr. Isaac Butterworth officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
