Don Vann

Don Vann
August 15, 1959 - December 12, 2018

Don Vann was ultimately healed by the Father in heaven on December 12, 2018. He was born on August 15, 1959, in Reynolds, Georgia, and married his high school sweetheart, Judy, on August 1, 1981.

His grace, compassion, generosity, and humor endeared him to many: family, friends, students, and strangers alike. Don was a teacher for the WFISD for 26 years, teaching P.E./Health and Hot Topics, which he was vastly known for around town. He was a faithful member of the body of Christ at First Baptist Wichita Falls, where he helped lead a LifeGroup, continuing to teach even after ALS began to steal his voice. Along with being a teacher, he was also a coach, counselor, camp supervisor, and mentor, never ceasing to invest and believe in future generations. Don had a servantís heart, evidenced by the sacrifices he consistently made to display kindness and add value to peoplesí lives. He always looked forward to serving alongside his friends at Faith Mission and found joy in the opportunities to teach there.

More than any of the many things he was passionate about, he was most devoted to Jesus and his family. He loved his wife, children, Georgia family, and delighted being Poppy to his grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife of 37 years, Judy; his three children, Amy (Casey) Lewis, Justin (Marisol) Vann, and Jared (Emily) Vann; his parents, Charles and Sandra Vann; four grandchildren, Addyson, Colby, Alyssa, and Tristan; and six siblings, Roger (Wanda) Vann, Angie (Harry) Payne, Glenn (Sirena) Vann, Jan Vann, Michelle Giles, and Wade Vann.

A celebration of Donís life will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Baptist East Sanctuary, and a visitation will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2018, from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., at Lunnís. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunnís Colonial Funeral Home.
