Al "Lyndal" Preston

Al Lyndal Preston passed away Good Friday, April 22, 2011, at Hospice of Wichita Falls. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in Lunns Colonial Chapel with Rev. Rod Payne of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Rosemont Cemetery under the ion of Lunns Colonial Funeral Home.
Al was born March 20, 1939 in Iowa Park, Texas. He was a great husband, father, granddad and brother to his family. He was married to the love of his life for 46 years. He and Jocelyne Boitrel met in France during his military deployment. They married, had two sons and three beautiful grandchildren that he loved dearly.
Al served his country by first joining the Marine Corps and served as an MP. He then transferred to the Army and served 22 years earning the following medals and decorations: National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Three Service Stars, Army Commendation Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal Fifth Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, Presidential Unit Citation, Two Overseas Service Bars, Expert rifle M16. He loved his country and served to protect and fight for all peoples right to be free. Al left a legacy of True American Spirit. Al also graduated from Vernon Regional Junior College with and Associate in Applied Science and General Business Degree.
After retiring from the military he returned to Wichita Falls to settle his family and worked for the US Postal Service until his retirement. Al enjoyed his family and his pride and joy were his grandchildren, Samantha, Alex and Ami. They gave him so much joy and love and he returned that love with all his heart.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Jocelyne Preston, his mother and father, Lennie Davis and Samuel Preston, and siblings, Edna Preston, Sammy Gene Preston, Zell Callahan, Nell Dyer, Ed Preston, Donald Preston, Mary Lois Gunter, Lee Roy Walton, Elmer Walton and Billy Gene Walton.
Al is survived by his sister, Eula Faye Fulfer and brother, Bob Preston son, Ron Preston and granddaughter, Samantha Starr Preston son, David Preston and wife Traci grandson, Alex and granddaughter, Ami Preston and many nieces and nephews.
A family visitation will be held from 6:007:00 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home.
