Charlie Rogers, 79, went home to his Lord, Saturday, April 30, 2011. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in Lunns Colonial Chapel with Dr. Mike Roberson officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Cemetery under the ion of Lunns Colonial Funeral Home.
Charlie was born September 20, 1931, in Gladewater, Texas, to George M. and Elva Rogers. He was a 1949 graduate of Wichita Falls High School, where he met and married the love of his life, Patsy Payne. The couple savored 60 years of marriage.
Charlie proudly served his country in the Naval Reserve, worked in the auto industry and at Sprague Electric until his retirement in 1990.
Charlie was an exemplary husband, father, granddad and brother. His wisdom, kindness and lighthearted humor were a source of great comfort for all who knew him. Charlies contagious smile and understanding soul illuminated the joys of life, and his gentle spirit and generosity will be missed. Charlies hobby was his unquenchable devotion to family baseball and the livelihood of his children and grandchildren. Charlies lessons about life and baseball will be remembered.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Juanita Kirchner, Dorothy Turner and Norma Jean Norman and grandson Darren Charles.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Patsy Rogers sons Gary Rogers and wife Becky, Randy Rogers and wife Anna grandsons Michael Frank and wife Amy Nicole, Ryan Rogers and wife Stacie, Nick Rogers and wife Anna, and Brett Rogers and seven greatgrandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 PM, for visitation.
If desired, memorials may be given to Lamar Baptist Church.
